WANAKENA WEEKLY #215 - 03/07/24 - 03/13/24

Happy Thursday!

Reporting from Wanakena, NY.... FRESHLY LOCKED-DOWN in a COUNTY-WIDE BURN BAN... a stone's-through from the LEGALLY CHALLENGED BUT PROVEN IN THE COURT OF LAW exact point in space and time where the rapids below the ENDLESSLY MEANDERING HEADWATERS of the east branch Oswegatchie River settle-down and turn into the MIGHTY CRANBERRY LAKE. It's been warm! Got some raking done! And then it snowed. Monday morning snow! Few inches or so. Snowplow and sunshine to follow! GLORIOUS SUNSHINE, blue skies, white snow; absolutely beautiful days in the North Country. LISTEN TO ALL THOSE BIRDS! Robins in the yard, Woodchuck on the Croquet Court, Turkeys alongside the highway, Eagles in the sky! Bisuness as usual at our feeders, though neighbors have reported Pine Siskin and a Ruddy Duck. ALMOST BLACK FLY SEASON?!?!?! Big long stretch of stunning warm and sunny days. Great job everybody! Still gonna be snow in the woods, gonna be wet in the woods too. Dont forget your lifejacked when you're out on the waters! The Ten-Day Forecast shows temperatures slowly dropping and perhaps some rain/snow by the end of this upcoming weekend. SPEAKING OF THIS WEEKEND! Did you see The Legion has LIVE MUSIC Saturday night AND Sunday afternoon!?! Looking ahead... TOTAL SOLAR ECPLIPSE IS COMING! It's getting closer and closer.... the buzzing of building energy. Clifton-Fine finds itself in the HEART OF TOTALITY; NY route 3 pumping as the pulse though the region.

WE'RE GETTING A NEW ICE MACHINE... bye-bye to the old one, used the be the ugliest machine in the Adirondacks until Sue Z. painted it! It was not working as good as it should have... it was time to let it go. It was moved to our location from Padgett's IPA when they closed some years ago. We all watched over it.
