BIG MELT IN WANAKENA - DONT FORGET TO CHANGE THE CLOCKS! - Reporting from the THAWED shores of The Mighty Oswegatchie River within a STONE'S THROW from the scientifically proven precise location of where the Oswegatchie turns INTO CRANBERRY LAKE! Right here in the heart of Wanakena. Looking ahead.... warm and sunny couple of days ahead! Cold and wet this weekend! Looking back, now... What a week! It got WARM and it RAINED! Big lasting change. Not much snow around town anymore. Piles here, there and spotty in the woods. The river/lake level was LOWEST EVER! It has since risen. The snow croquet course has melted! It had a FANTASTIC RUN! Remember those piles we had under umbrellas in December? They held strong 'til the very end!!!!! Of course we are not suggesting "NO MORE SNOW". Everyone knows it will snow again... and we won't get into the details of all that. Geese were heard flying overhead and spotted down around the bend. Mergansers have retuned as well! Beautiful Purple Finch Remain at the feeders! Snowdrops are poking their heads though the thawed mulch. Cranberry Lake Boat Club Ice Out Contest HERE: DEADLINE MARCH 15TH!
