EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! Wanakena, NY! What's going on?!?!?! This past week was jammin! And we did get quite a bit of needed rain! There was jazz music in the church Friday evening! BOYDEN BROOK BAND ROCKED ZPARK SATURDAY NIGHT! The rain held off and we had a DANG GOOD OL' TIME! Sunday, Bernie C. in conjunction with the WANAKENA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION took folks out for a walk around the setback to talk plants n stuff! Hot fun in the summertime! Down in the 40s Thursday morning, though! YUM! Have you heard? Coming up this weekend is the 20TH ANNUAL Cranberry Lake Boat Club Poker Paddle for the Harewood Library! It's not too late to sign up! It's held right here in WANAKENA at the MOUTH OF CRANBERRY LAKE 1-4PM! Tons of fun. It's also the STAR LAKE POKER PADDLE! Wow! Uh, what else? LOTS! SO MUCH HOW'S ONE TO EVEN KEEP TRACK OF IT ALL! Perhaps the point: DONT! Just go with the flow and get on with it! There's a POP-UP ZINE MAKING WORKSHOP being held in Harewood at the Library this friday from 11-1PM! Yes, this weekend weather is looking great, and then some rain and cooing down a bit early next week - you know how that can change though! AND IT DOES! Does anybody even read this stuff?!?!? Oh yeah, Happy Birthday, Mary... and anyone else out there who's celebrating their birth! Dont tell anyone, but when you're driving out of Wanakena, the red maple trees up on the hill straight ahead are starting to turn. WINTER WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT! MUUAHAHAHAHAH! Also, the Cranberry Lake State Campground is open for the 2026 season through September 7. Closing early (before traditional Labor Day weekend) due to fall infrastructure work. And also, school starts BEFORE Labor Day weekend this year. So, yeah. Not only is WINTER approaching... but summer is ENDING EARLY! Next thing you know they'll get rid of pennies!
