Laundry on the line one day! Snow and freezing on the way! Springtime in the mountains! For those wondering about "TRAIL CONDITIONS": we implore you to consider some common sense. In other news: WE'RE ON THE HEALS OF THE ECLPISE, PEOPLE! There will be an Assistant Forest Ranger up on Cat Mountain. Ranger Benzil will be out patrolling Cranberry Lake. It is probably NOT a good idea to pack a bunch of people on the Wanakena Footbridge. Ranger School has informed us that the FIRE TOWER WILL BE CLOSED AND LOCKED!! So don't try it. The rest of the campus (including Cathedral Rock) will be open and there will be a smattering of porter-potties. The sun wont be in-view but you'll see it get dark here: RS WEBCAM. The Wanakena Post Office will be open for business as usual. Otto's Abode will be open and ready for whatever happens, right? LET THE PARTY BEGIN! Folks will be rolling into town all weekend. Sunday night before the eclipse we'll have a pre-eclipse cosmic musical happening (flier below). MONDAY OF THE ECLIPSE we will be OPEN and FLINGIN'. You can count on us being OPEN TUESDAY MORNING the 9th for post-eclipse party people. Not much else to say for now besides "buckle up"! Just like everyone else, we've got our eye on the weather. Fortunately, there is a local weather station right here in WANAKENA on Patty's garage! Looking for volunteers this weekend to help take-down all of the "Wanakena" highway signs on rt 3! Kim and Tom have not reported any lost dogs.
