Who has time to write it all down as it's all happening? Waxwings dip and dive and Cardinal flowers pop down by the river. Hikers report wet yet not croweded trails - the same goes for boaters out on Cranberry Lake: wet yet not too crowded. Poker Paddle and live music last weekend in Wanakena. Open house at the Cranberry Lake Hub last weekend, too. What else? LOTS! - The 21st annual Clifton Fine Summer Concert Series is HERE! Schedule posted on the website cliftonfinearts.blogspot.com and postcards flying about. The In the Pines Clifton Fine Summer Concert Series is organized by the Cultural Arts Committee of the Clifton Fine Economic Development Corporation.

- Carol Vossler of Saranac Lake is out on the lawn under the big tent as we type this doing PULP PAINTING workshops - spots still open! On View: "A Thin Place" Multi-Media by Dave Hassig. Clifton Town Historian Mark Friden gifted the Otto's Abode phone booth a 1908 Northern NY Phone Book complete with Wanakena listings! Otto's will be partying alongside the LIVE MUCIS next Friday the 5th in conjunction with Ranger School Alumni Weekend - c'mon down. Local Loons that will be in the Cranberry Lake Art Show in a couple week are on view here at Otto's NOW! Junk Drawer and LOTS MORE to check out!!! Open seven days a week through the summertime. Then we cut back hours a little bit but stay open all year long. FRESH PRODUCE!!!! Locally grown and found by Dan Martin and crew in Potsdam, NY. COME AND GET IT! Next FOLK JAM is Sunday, August 21st 3-5pm. Croquet, anyone? Handmade Bags by Trout Lake's Hen Island. Handmade baskets by Wanakena's own Sue Patterson. COLD BEER SOLD HERE! Books, maps, music for your browsing pleasure. Camping/fishing/hiking knickknack patty-whacks. The Clifton Community Library in Cranberry Lake has installed a fantastic Library Drop Box. WANAKENA CEMETERY ASSOCIATION – Cemetery meeting August 9th 7pm Wanakena church! Cremation Remains burial has gone up from $150 to $250. Also, there is no longer a backhoe charge for cremation burial because they don’t use a backhoe for cremation burials any longer.

WANAKENACCOMODATIONS - "Where do people stay?" is the question... the answer: IN A TENT. Lots of primitive camping!!!!!! All free and open to the public!!!!!! Coyote Den Motel in Cranberry Lake. Looking for more? Besides Packbasket Adventures Lodge, Wanakena has a number of "vacation" rental homes available. They are all of ADKbyOWNER/AirBnB/VrBo variety. It's someone else's place that YOU stay at. In other words: you can't just show up in Wanakena and expect to get a hotel roof under your head. You need to plan accordingly with your fancy pants smart phone. Do an internet search for Wanakena ADKbyOWNER/AirBnB/VrBo rentals and stuff will pop-up. Or check the Coyote Den in Cranberry Lake.

Alcoholics Anonymous Friday nights at 7pm in the SOS Building. Wanakena's closest neighbor, Mountain Gate Redemption near Benson Mines, is open. A little further west Scoops Ice Cream, Coffee Fever, Twin Lakes Hotel, American Legion, Todd Hardware, CF Golf Course and Jreck's, Clifton-Fine Hospital, Community Bank, Adirondack Pharmacy, Clifton-Fine Community Center, Dollar General and Circle J’s in Star Lake are open!
