VISIT ADIRONDACK POST - Wanakena, NY was recently featured on the internet. St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce contacted us via email seeing if we had any nice fall photos of Wanakena. We sent them some photos and also mentioned there is NEW CL50 sign in Wanakena. SO, they did NOT use any of our cute fall foliage photos but DID use the photo of the sawblade and thus seized an opportunity to further celebrate the CL50 as a regional Chamber-of-commerce-worthy success story! Also, stay tuned on this endeavor: ADK reaches deal to purchase Cascade Ski Center - Adirondack Explorer As proprietors of a year-round information center, we certainly are (staying tuned)!
EXPLORER ARTICLE - We recently learned of this recently written article about Wanakena, NY: Exploring Cranberry Lake - - The Adirondack Almanack The article speaks highly of Wanakena as a place to go to escape the crowds and also mentions Otto's Abode: "There is commerce in Wanakena, in the form of Otto’s Abode, part art gallery, part coffee shop, part farmers market, were if you are unfamiliar with hiking in this neck of the woods, you can pick up a couple of William Hall guidebooks, which augment trail descriptions with the history that surrounds them." When he says "William Hall" he means William HILL (with an I). Yes, we sell Bill's info-packed books here in the shop. And YES Wanakena and Cranberry Lake are quieter than Lake Placid, etc.... BUT DONT TELL PEOPLE THAT! Also, don't forget about Blackwaters! Otto's and Blackwaters Cafe and Clifton Library keeping the lights on for Cranberry lake!
