01/20/26 - COLD AND SNOWY UP HERE! BIG TIME!

Lost track of how much snow we've gotten... but let's just say Wanakena is pretty much locked below freezing with the "snow" switch stuck in the "on" position! And we're getting some deeper cold coming this weekend! This Saturday we're forecast to be locked below zero for over 24 hours. Historically that aint nothin'. But for us Wanakeners these days, that hasn't happened in at least three years... SO IT'S SORT OF A BIG DEAL! You MAY have noticed the Wanakena Weekly is "PAUSED". After THREE HUNDRED editions of Wanakena Weekly (that's three weeks shy of six years) the "WANAKENA WEEKLY" has morphed. YOU CAN STILL expect updates here on the website to continue! Wanakena Book Club (formally the Green Bough Browsers) will not meet this month. Deer continue to scrape whatever they can from frozen Jacko lanterns dug up from snowbanks; or at least their footprints say they do. Bruce from Town of Fine keeps the Wanakena roads very well plowed and sanded! Ranger School is back from Winter Break. Wanakena Post Office open every morning except sundays! TRAILS SHOULD BE IN GREAT SHAPE! MUCHO SNOW AND COLD! Skiers, snowshoers, snowmobilers... GET OUT THERE! Snowmobilers coming across frozen Cranberry Lake. The Senior Citizens club lunch crew stopped in on their way home from a fantastic lunch at Packbasket Adventures! Trivia and munchies at Packbasket Adventures every 1st tuesday of the month 6PM!
