Happy New Year!!!!!!!! Mary is going on vacation, so you better be practiced up on your locker combo! The Oswegatchie went OUT this past week after some warm and rain. Ice thickness reports heading down towards the narrows.... seven inches in one spot, ten in another! Not too shabby! You didn't hear it from us but someone did brap through the narrows! Winter is making its third return starting NOW with six fresh inches or so on the ground and a few more inches on the way this Saturday! C'mon down to Wanakna and poke around in the forest and town and stuff! The trails have taken a beating but are rebounding! Deer in the yard; birds at the feeder; squirrel run amuck. Oswegatchie is RUNNIN! We're OPEN! And the NEW HOMETOWN MOUNTAIN GATE PLAZA STORE is OPEN at Clifton Corners just a few miles west on rt. 3! Check 'em out! CHECK US OUT TOO! Ten-day forecast says COLD! WANAKENA! Had a good number of rare winter bird sightings for the holidaze! Great to see you all! And we had a REALLY AWESOME time celebrating the new year with everybody down in ZPARK this past Wednesday evening and all week! Long Island Bagels and Fireworks! Wanakena Church bells! WOW! There was a wellness meet-up at Packbasket Lodge on New Year's Day and folks were dipping in the Oswegatchie.
