Happy Thursday!

IMPORTANT NOTICE... OTTO'S IS CLOSED TUESDAY - FRIDAY NEXT WEEK! BACK OPEN SATURDAY AT 4PM! CHEERS, YA'LL! It was ANOTHER WARM AND SUNNY WEEK in Wanakena! Of course, it gets cold at night and there's some hard frost and stuff. But, DANG some sunny days in the forties feels DANG GOOD! It is a little strange, though.... feels like "summer" is still hanging on even though there's now Christmas music on the radio. There's still boats coming out of the water! Colder temps and some snow in the forcast could REALLY seal the deal on summer this time! Town of Fine came through Wanakena this week and did a bunch of TREE TRIMMING! THANKS, CREW! Ranger School has ALL of next week off for the holiday. They'll ship-out after a lab on Friday! TWO YEARS AGO their travel plans were almost SQUASHED by SUPER SNOW STORM! Visit THIS LINK to see the Wanakena Weekly from two years ago. In fact, we encourage you to check back through the archive EVERY week! There are some VERY PLUMP grey squirrels bouncing around downtown! Usual suspects of chickadee, nuthatch and bluejay up in the trees and all around. Fighter jets were flying around the other night having some fun in the skies above... even heard a SONIC BOOM! Lot of low rumbling and booming over from the west... Fort Drum blowing stuff up! Some campers coming back from an overnight at Janacks after a trip to Cat Mt. saw the mules! Keep wearing orange in the woods! Town Of Fine: Minutes: November 13, 2024: November Board Meeting [Digital Towpath] As you'll read in the minutes: Street lighting – 11/2024-147 Moved by P. Giardino, seconded by C. Kerr to eliminate the two streetlights in Wanakena that border Patty Pastella’s property. Ayes: 4, Noes: 0, Carried. WAY TO GO PATTY! Actually, one of those streetlights has been on the fritz and flashing on and off during the day... SHUT IT DOWN, PATTY! Get ready for DARK walks to the beach! All's well in Wanakena as we inch towards December. Stay well, friends! And special thanks to the folks who dropped a tip in our Venmo! Wanakena Weekly is published online at www.ottosabode.org every Thursday-ish. Sometimes we write a lot and sometimes we write a little. This service is brought to you by the folks at Otto's Abode. Wanakena Weekly was officially debuted Thursday, February 13th 2020 - two days from exactly four years after Otto’s Abode first opened its doors to the public. Any questions, comments, concerns, trail condition inquiries, legends, jokes, animal sightings, etc… feel free to email otto@ottosabode.org or call 3158483008 or pop-in the shop! Perhaps you appreciate this service enough to donate to the cause! Drop some dough on our VENMO if you wish! Thanks to the folks who have already done so! Thanks for reading!
